When Gena Palumbo adopted her daughter from an orphanage in China, she saw children left behind because of their physical disabilities. Ten years ago, she formed the Children of China Pediatrics Foundation. CCPF sends volunteer doctors and nurses to China to perform life-transforming surgeries for these children. One by one, these children now run instead of limp, use functioning hands to learn in school, and smile and speak from mouths once too deformed to form words.
All these miracles, with just a few hours of surgery.

Fiver Children's Foundation

Tom Tucker left Wall Street at the age of 51 to focus on his true passion, helping kids! Tom started Fiver Children's Foundation, a year-round youth development organization for inner-city children. The kids are exposed to a character building curriculum taught by outstanding role models, with the catalyst for change being two weeks at Camp Fiver in upstate New York. This 10-year program, ending after high school graduation, results in academic achievement and quality decision-making, providing children the foundation to reach their full potental.

Global Partnership for Afghanistan

GPFA is helping Afghan farmers who are striving to help themselves. These historically self-reliant people urgently need the opportunity to lift their families out of poverty and restore economic and environment sustainability to their country. Since 2004, our community based programs have provided an ever-growing number of Afghan men and women with the planting supplies, tools and training they need to revitalize and rebuild the vast network of farmer owned vineyards and woodlots that have long formed the backbone of Afghanistan's economy.

The Legal Aid Society

As the nation's oldest and largest not-for-profit legal services organization, The Legal Aid Society is dedicated to providing free, quality legal assistance to low-income New Yorkers in a comprehensive range of services in three areas: Civil, Criminal Defense and Juvenile Rights. The Criminal and Juvenile Rights Practices are constitutionally mandated and supported by government. The Civil Practice is largely dependent upon private contributions to serve the most vulnerable New Yorkers, including senior citizens, survivors of domestic violence, disabled children and adults, immigrants, low-wage workers, persons living with HIV/AIDS, and homeless and imminently homeless children and families.

ReServe

Jack Rosenthal and Herb Sturz, two New Yorkers with years of experience developing innovative nonprofits, turned their attention to individuals over 50 who are leaving their primary careers but want to contribute to society by using their skills and experience. The result was ReServe, a nonprofit organization that recruits, screens and matches persons over 50 with stipend paying volunteer opportunities in the nonprofit and public sectors. ReServe has placed over 450 individuals to date in a wide range of positions: human resources, health care, marketing, writing, and social services to name a few.
